“Tear Down This Wall” – 20 th Anniversary
President Reagan’s speech and his declaration to Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev at the Berlin Wall — “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!” — was credited by many with helping to bring an end to the Cold War.

G8 2007
Growth and Responsibility: Leitmotif for Germany's G8 Presidency - On 1 January 2007 Germany assumed the presidency of the eight leading industrialized nations. The highlight of the one-year presidency will be the Summit of heads of state and government on 6 - 8 June 2007 at the Baltic Sea resort of Heiligendamm.

Asian Pacific American Heritage Month
Asian Pacific American Heritage Month honors the achievements of American ethnic groups with roots in Asia and the Pacific Islands and recognizes their contributions to the United States.

Korean Americans
Today, Korean American populations exist throughout the United States, with the largest communities residing in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, and Northern Virginia. In the aftermath of the massacre at Virginia Tech University on April 16th, as the nation mourned the victims of Cho Seung Hui, a sense of shock and shame overcame the Korean American community.

Teaching Literature: An Na – A Step From Heaven
An Na's first novel, A Step from Heaven, was the 2002 winner of an award for excellence in literature for young adults. It is the story of a Korean family that immigrates to California in search of a better life.

This Month: World Press Freedom Day
Every year, May 3rd is a date which celebrates the fundamental principles of press freedom; to evaluate press freedom around the world, to defend the media from attacks on their independence and to pay tribute to journalists who have lost their lives in the exercise of their profession.

This Month: Jewish American Heritage Month
May is officially designated as Jewish American Heritage Month. Here, Jewish American artist Mindy Weisel discusses personal and social perspectives that art can provide.
